Meet Clive Moyle, our Product Specialist – Harvesters (Sales & Service)

I began my long association with sugar cane harvester service and support at the start of my apprenticeship with a North Queensland family business many years ago. This is when I also began working with Case and then later the Case IH range of equipment.  For those that can remember the early harvesters, I originally began working on Don Mizzi harvesters and later Toft 364 MKII, 300, 310, 4, 5 and 6000 series.  At this time, I was also involved significantly with hydraulic troubleshooting and repairs which worked hand in hand with the Toft harvesters due to their extensive use of hydraulics.  The experience I gained enabled me to work overseas on the Toft 6000 machines in Florida, USA and the Toft 364 MKII in Iran.

On my return from overseas, I continued working across various areas in North Queensland supplying service and support for the Austoft range of 7000 and 7700 series of harvesters and the range of Cameco machines. During this period, I attended factory training in Bundaberg, Queensland where the Austoft machines were manufactured and also at Thibodaux, Louisiana, USA where the Camecos were being manufactured.  I was also attending training for Case IH tractors at their headquarters in Australia down in St Marys, Sydney, NSW.

Before too long, I was back overseas where I spent a significant period working on harvesters across numerous countries including the Philippines, Thailand, Fiji, Sudan, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Mexico and England (modified harvester for Coppice). During this time, I was responsible for the operation, training, troubleshooting, service and support of Austoft 7000 and Case IH 8000 series machines and continued my factory training in Piracicaba, Brazil where the new Case IH Austoft harvesters were now being manufactured. In addition to working on harvesters I was also supporting Bell equipment and the full CNH range of equipment, which included tractors and earthmoving machinery .

Again when I returned to Australia, I continued to work with agricultural machinery and made my way back to Case IH and the North Queensland dealerships.

I am currently responsible for the sales and service support of Case IH Austoft harvesters for QMAC Machinery, with their branches from Innisfail, to Tully and Cairns and out to the Atherton Tablelands.

It has been a long journey of almost 45 years of involvement with sugar cane harvesting, but one I have enjoyed all the way and continue to do so now.  Starting all those years ago with the basics of the mostly chain driven Don Mizzis, to now the well advanced Case IH Austoft 8810 and its significant use of on-board and off-board computer diagnostics systems assisting in the ease of troubleshooting and the operation of these machines, I’ve seen it all but despite this, it is still a constantly learning process to keep abreast of the latest technology and the benefits it does and can bring to this industry. I believe there are very exciting times ahead for cane harvesting and the Case IH Austoft harvesters and look forward to being part of it.
